Fans for FOTZ, TPAC Flock to Friday Events

orangutanZOO, TPAC -- Friends of the Topeka Zoo were able to stop by to celebrate the final night of its "Summer Safari" series Friday evening. It was also marked as an FOTZ Appreciation Night. Topekans could also join as members of the Friends group at last night's event, $25 individually, or $50 for family memberships.

Friends of Mulvane Museum Receive Art Grant

Patrick Dougherty Stickwork, Mulvane Art MuseumTOPEKA -- The Kansas Arts Commission is announcing its 2011 American Masterpieces Kansas grant recipients this week.

The program supports public arts and cultural events happening between January 1, 2011 and June 30th of next year, relating to Kansas's 150th anniversary of its statehood. The commemoration can feature works by recognized Kansas artists, living or deceased.

Group Hopes NoTo Will Mirror SoHo

NoToTopeka, KAN. (WIBW)—The Heartland Visioning team has set their sights on improving another Topeka area. We've heard a lot about efforts in the downtown area south of the Kansas River, but now they're looking into north of the river.

Kansas Avenue in North Topeka boasts a few quaint shops with plenty of empty spaces up top. Heartland Visioning wants to transform those spaces into studios with the hope of attracting artists like 23-year-old Karl Fundenberger.
